TelASIC Analog Chip Wins analogZONE Award For Exceptional Technical Merit And Well-Targeted Marketability

analogZONE selects TelASIC's ADC as 2003 Product of the Year

El Segundo, CA (February 9, 2004) – TelASIC Communications, Inc., a mixed-signal IC company that offers world's highest performance ADC, DAC and digital pre-distortion linearizer chips, today announced that its TC1411 Analog-to-Digital converter (ADC) chip has received the analogZONE 2003 "Product of the Year" award in the category of Best Speed Performance ADC.

"We review literally hundreds of products each year," said Paul McGoldrick, Editor-in-Chief of analogZONE. "To achieve Product of the Year honors, the chosen product must be a standout in its class, possessing exceptional technical merit as well as well-targeted marketability."

The TelASIC TC1411 ADC delivers the unprecedented capability of maintaining 102 dB dynamic range in the second Nyquist region (120 MHz to 250 MHz at 250 MSPS) and achieves the highest SNR and Effective Number of Bits (ENOB) of any converter in its class.  The part provides greater than 1 GHz of input bandwidth and is usable at IF frequencies above 350 MHz - a level of performance that was deemed unachievable in the analog industry. This capability enables direct sampling at high frequencies and eliminates the traditional multi-stage IF conversions using chain of analog components, resulting in substantial cost savings and an order of magnitude improvement in performance benefits. System designers can now achieve new price/performance levels in a wide range of high volume analog applications such as cellular base stations, fixed wireless infrastructure, medical imaging, high resolution displays, automotive sensing systems, high-speed communications, and test and measurement instrumentation.

"Our measurement applications have the most demanding requirements of maintaining high SNR and dynamic range across the widest input frequency bandwidth," said Tom Burrell, Vice President and General Manager of Agilent's Signal Analysis Division. "We are pleased to note that TelASIC has achieved breakthroughs in ADC and DAC technologies that address these requirements extremely well."

"We are pleased to receive this award in recognition of achieving a new class of data converter products well suited for high-volume commercial applications. We are also excited about multiple customers’ acceptance of these products so far and will continue to bring more advanced products to the market in the near future," said Don Devendorf, CTO at TelASIC.
